Week Seven

WEEK SEVEN

Welcome back! Ugh, I hate basic introductions, but, I am short on time to write this blog post because I'm leaving for a weekend trip! WHOOP! So, it all started by addressing my exes. By exes I mean those schools who rejected my proposal. For the 6 six schools who responded promptly with "no", I thanked them for actually responding, and then we went our separate ways. *sigh* Now, onto the more motivating parts of my week! For starters, I began collecting more Superintendent emails to reach my goal of sending 20 proposal emails this week. I ended up sending 12 emails (Addison, Adrian, Algonac, Allegan, Allen Park, Alma, Almont, Bath, Bedford, Berrien Springs, Birch Run, and Bullock Creek) but I might have enough time to squeak in 8 more after I finishing crafting this blog post. Regardless of when I decide to send them, I will be sending them to 8 schools within close proximity of Williamston (Haslett, Dansville, etc.) to, hopefully, elicit faster responses. 

Speaking of responses, I have acquired one additional participant in my research... Holland Public Schools! I contacted their Superintendent again today (after his initial response on Wednesday) to see if he has any questions regarding the distribution of my survey (and to subtly remind him to chop chop hurry up) but as of now, he has none. I also touched base with my previous two participant schools East Lansing and Okemos. Glenn from East Lansing last contacted me on Wednesday, February 10th, and I replied quickly as usual. Today, I just shot him another email to ensure he is on board with the project and starting to release my survey into the universe. As for Okemos...buckle up your seat belts...I have started getting responses. YES, IT'S TRUE! AHAHAHA! I saw them begin to trickle an hour ago and my heart was absolutely flooded with joy and pride. As of right this very minute (Friday, 1:16 PM) there are 6 responses and counting! 

On that emotional high, I am going to end this blog post. What a ride this week has been.

Week Fifteen

WEEK FIFTEEN WHEW! Let me tell ya, this week was a WHIRLWIND-but in the best way possible. The first week back from Spring Break is usually pretty busy, but nothing compares to the hustle and bustle of this week...and it all started with the SAT. After surviving Monday (and fully online school which gave me some big ol' flashbacks) I spent the night cramming in some unnecessary studying to make myself feel better. Then, the big day had arrived. Tuesday, April 13th, the SAT. Not that this blog post is all about the SAT, but I have to say, it was kind of a huge relief to finish that test (and surprise essay) and realize that I never have to think about Khan Academy prep ever again! Hallelujah! Anyways, let's cut to the chase. Friday morning: Han's Big Interview. Was I ready for this once-in-a-lifetime experience? Yes. Was I sweating? Also yes. Week Fourteen

WEEK FOURTEEN Ahoy matey! It is I, Han, and I write to you from Pittsburgh! I may or may not have forgotten to write this blog post before I left for Spring Break on Friday, so I am rapidly penning this from the floor of my hotel room. I don't have much time because we have a dinner reservation at Mad Mex at 5:15, but nonetheless, here is a summary of my week. It was once again very steady: I was going to have that glorious meeting with Dr. Flennaugh, but I got caught up so we had to move it to after Spring Break, I sent my research to 8 more K-12 schools, and I once again got to make mud and plant corn for my fellow researcher Emma! As for the K-12 schools, I sent my proposal to Hopkins, Howell, Huron, Ionia, Ithaca, Jackson, Kalamazoo, and Kalkaska. As of right this very minute I have only heard back from Eaton Rapids and they said....wait for it.....I know you know what's about to happen....."no". Ha! Gets me every time!
