Week Eight

WEEK EIGHT

Woah WOah WOAH! It's already week 8! *confetti everywhere* This week is what I'd call a "catch-up" week. After sending boatloads of emails last week, I just needed to step back and assess the data I have acquired. In total, I have received 53 responses from East Lansing and 6 responses from Okemos. Now, you may be thinking to yourself, "GOsh 53 from East Lansing, that's fantastic, but 6 from Okemos, that just blows." If you are thinking that, you're not alone. I reached out to my good ol' pal Stacey again to kindly question her if my data was sent to the entirety of the school district and she promptly told me it was. So as you can see, I am at a bit of a standstill with Okemos. As for Holland City, I reached out the Superintendent again but I got no response. Ouch. In the meantime, I spent this week entering the mega load of data from East Lansing. 

And that, my readers, is what you call a painful week. I was ignored and rejected, but I'm not giving up because if East Lansing can get fully on board with my research, there must be another school out there that can too. On Wednesday, February 24th, I will be sending out my "One week later.." email to the schools that haven't gotten back with me yet (Addison, Bullock Creek, Dansville, etc), and that's it! Next week is going to be a grind for more participants, and possibly some way of spicing up my research.

Week Fourteen

WEEK FOURTEEN Ahoy matey! It is I, Han, and I write to you from Pittsburgh! I may or may not have forgotten to write this blog post before I left for Spring Break on Friday, so I am rapidly penning this from the floor of my hotel room. I don't have much time because we have a dinner reservation at Mad Mex at 5:15, but nonetheless, here is a summary of my week. It was once again very steady: I was going to have that glorious meeting with Dr. Flennaugh, but I got caught up so we had to move it to after Spring Break, I sent my research to 8 more K-12 schools, and I once again got to make mud and plant corn for my fellow researcher Emma! As for the K-12 schools, I sent my proposal to Hopkins, Howell, Huron, Ionia, Ithaca, Jackson, Kalamazoo, and Kalkaska. Week Two

WEEK TWO Monday, January 4 2021: Yeehaw partners! We are back on the research horse galloping towards a week of productivity! Today the schedule consisted of 1st-3rd hour so research was not my main priority (as disheartening as that may be). However, after school I did read through the initial draft of my email to teachers that I had written before break-it definitely needed some work, but nothing a night of sleep and hardy breakfast couldn't fix.    Tuesday, January 5 2021: As you probably know, life is not always predictable. In my case, while I intended to grind out my email and have it sent to teachers by Wednesday morning, that just wasn't going to happen. My morning to-do list overflowed with finals preparation and mind-bending chemistry worksheets, and because of that, I couldn't conquer the trek to the top of Mt. Homework.
